Miss Gardner is from upstate New York, but the UP has always been one of her favorite places! She is an avid coffee drinker and, in her free time, loves to read and write. Her favorite place to be is watching the sunset on the beach! Miss Gardner has four nieces and nephews who have her whole heart. She is excited to start the new year with her class of fourth-graders. We want to welcome her and are excited to have Miss Gardner joining us here at E.B. Holman!

We want to welcome Mrs. Protzel to E.B. Holman! She and her daughter Norma will be in the third-grade classroom this year! Mrs. Protzel has been the lead teacher and principal of the Grant Township School in Copper Harbor and has also taught French in the city of Chicago! She said that she loves teaching because she loves learning and inspiring children to love learning, too.

We are excited to have Mr. Vestich joining us as our new 8th-grade homeroom and middle school social studies teacher. Mr. Vestich and his wife grew up in Hancock. He was a very successful teacher at the Houghton-Portage School District for twenty years. Mr. Vestich also served as an assistant principal at the Croswell-Lexington High School downstate. Mr. Vestich is an avid Lions and Red Wings fan. He enjoys sports, board games, and fishing. He reads a lot, loves to travel and see new places, and spend time with his dog Parker.

We are looking for a cross country coach for the new school year. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Mr. Rebman. You can email crebman@stpsd.us or call the school at (906)482-2797.

We are excited to welcome Jennifer Kemp and Robert Thomas to E.B. Holman! Ms. Kemp is our new middle school science teacher. She will also be working with all of our students as a STEM teacher, incorporating hands-on learning through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics! She will also be starting this Monday as our middle school girls' basketball coach.
Mr. Thomas is joining us as our new special education teacher and will work with our kindergarten through 8th-grade students with IEPs. Mr. Thomas will also work along with our para pros as they provide interventions and support for our general education classrooms.
As a family, they and their three children (R.J., Kenyon, and Brooks) love to spend time together and enjoy being outside and going on adventures. They are excited to join us in the Copper Country and can't wait to meet everyone.

Girls' basketball practice starts Monday, August 26th, at 2:00 pm. Additional practice dates and times will be set on Monday during practice.

Please join us for our annual Back to School Open House at E.B. Holman! It is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to meet our teachers and staff. Students can also familiarize themselves with their new classroom, desk, and locker. While you're here, enjoy our ice cream social in the lunchroom! We hope to see you there!

We want to thank everyone who participated in this year's summer reading program. It was a delight to have students visit the school and share about their reading!

Millage Renewal Election August 6th
On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, Stanton Township Public Schools will have a Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal Proposal on the ballot. If approved by the voters, the renewal will ensure that the district will be able to continue levying 18 mills for its operating millage, just as it has done since at least 2004.
If voters approve this millage renewal, the District will have overlapping millages that guarantee that we are able to levy the 18 mills required to receive full funding from the State. This tax is levied only on non-homestead property and does not apply to your primary place of residence. Primary residences (homestead properties) are exempt from the school district’s operating millage.
Please get out and vote on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the district office at crebman@stpsd.us or call us at (906) 482-2797.

Last week we celebrated the graduation of both our 8th grade students and kindergartners.
The 8th grade graduation was a special evening with students, family members, and teachers. Great food and socializing was enjoyed by all. Darren Kinnunen gave a motivating commencement speech and several students and their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Guili, also gave speeches during the ceremony.
The kindergarten had their graduation earlier in the day at school. They sang songs and accepted their diplomas in front of a large crowd of family and friends.
We wish all of our graduating students the very best as they move forward in their education next year.

This year, our 5th graders had a blast diving into the world of engineering! They designed and constructed robotic arms to compete in a strength challenge, showcasing their creativity and technical skills. Additionally, they built and launched bottle rockets, exploring the excitement of rocketry. Our future engineers have truly been hard at work, learning and having fun along the way!

You are invited! The school currently has tomato and pepper plants that need to be planted. Mr. Rebman would love you help and company! Friday, 10am- Noon

During the 8th grade class trip to Green Bay, students went on a tour of Lambeau Field. Although most students are unfortunately Lions fans, it was still an awesome experience to stand in the center of the stadium. (Mr. Rebman is one of the only Green Bay Packers fans in the school.😀) Students also had a blast at the Urban Air Adventure Park, long-boarding outside the hotel, eating out, swimming, and playing games in the massive hotel lobby. We are so thankful to all of the community for helping us during our fundraising events for this trip. We are also thankful for the chaperones that took time out of their busy schedule to be a part of this experience.
