Eighth grade students in Mrs. Haworth's science class work to identify samples of living things using microscopes. Students were tasked with observing traits from each of the 5 kingdoms. Some of the features observed included cell wall structure, presence of chloroplasts, and organelles.

When you are here for conferences... Stop in and check out the book sale in the library! Also, don't forget to check the lost and found, and if your children could use a jacket, look for their size on the rack by the lost and found. And of course, enjoy a cup of coffee and some bakery! We look forward to seeing you!

Mr. Kulju's 1st grade carved up some Jack-o'-lanterns with beautiful pumpkins from our school garden. Students made predictions on which pumpkins would have the most seeds and then counted each one during the carving process. The class had a chance to enjoy some roasted seeds the next day. In addition, the class read a book titled, Pumpkin Jack and learned about the lifecycle of the pumpkin. Similar to the book, students took their Jack-o'-lanterns (some with raw seeds intact) out and placed them on the compost pile to see what might happen as the pumpkins decompose and just maybe start the cycle over again next year.

Back in mid October, Mr. Kulju's class went outside to make scientific observations in the forest surrounding the school. While on their adventure, students made observations of animal activity, seasonal changes, and weather. Each month the class ventures out to repeat these observations and record their findings. Data is compared month to month, and patterns and changes are noted. Way to go, young scientists!

Students at E.B. Holman had very special guests visit them at school Friday afternoon. The Stanton Township Fire Department came and shared some great tips on fire safety around the kitchen and home in general. In addition to learning about fire safety, students were given the opportunity to try out some of the specialized equipment that helps keep our brave firefighters safe and assist them when they are fighting fires and rescuing people. A BIG WILDCAT THANK YOU to the Stanton Township Fire Department and all of the first responders who rush to the aid of those in need and help keep us safe.
