Stanton Township Hosts Copper Country Regional Bee; Jane Eskola Crowned 6th Grade Champion!
ATLANTIC MINE — The gym at E.B. Holman was buzzing with more than just school spirit as Stanton Township Public Schools proudly hosted the UPCEA Copper Country Regional Spelling Bee.
Despite the classic Copper Country snow and cold, students and families from CLK, Chassell, Dollar Bay-Tamarack, Lake Linden-Hubbell, Hancock, and Houghton joined our own Stanton Wildcats for a day of intense competition and academic excellence on Wednesday, February 18th.
A Display of Courage and Skill
Hosting this event was a true honor for our district. Spelling bees require more than just a sharp memory; they require immense courage to stand on a stage in front of peers and judges. Every student who participated demonstrated incredible poise and hard work. We want to extend a sincere "thank you" to all the families and school representatives who braved the winter weather to support these amazing young scholars.
Wildcat Pride: Jane Eskola Takes the Title!
We are thrilled to announce that Stanton’s very own Jane Eskola has earned the title of 6th Grade Copper Country Spelling Champion! Jane navigated her rounds with confidence and precision, representing E.B. Holman with excellence. Seeing one of our own students secure a regional win on our home court was a highlight for our school. Please join us in congratulating Jane on this well-deserved achievement!
Next Stop: The U.P. Finals
The journey isn't over yet! As a regional champion, Jane will be heading to the U.P.C.E.A. U.P. Finals in the Negaunee/Ishpeming area tomorrow, Thursday, March 12th. She will be competing against the top spellers from across the entire Upper Peninsula. Jane, your entire Wildcat family is behind you. We wish you the absolute best of luck as you represent the Copper Country tomorrow. No matter the outcome, we are already so proud of you!
