picture of ice rink

Returning from Christmas break, students of all ages rolled up their sleeves to bring our school ice rink to life. The project kicked off with our older students stomping out the rink's footprint and hauling heavy supplies. Not to be outdone, our younger students jumped right in, moving materials into place to make the building process go as smoothly as possible.

A special shoutout goes to a dedicated crew of 5th-grade boys who braved high winds and freezing temperatures to assemble the rink walls with the help of Mr. Rebman and Mr. Dale.

Getting the walls up was just the beginning. Our crew battled fierce winds to set the tarp and start the initial flooding.

Right on cue, winter unleashed its fury with a frigid cold snap and heavy snowfall. Once the extreme temperatures finally moderated, we fought back the continuous snow with days of relentless shoveling. Last week, we managed to get one final flood on the ice, and we are thrilled to say the rink is officially ready to go!

Time to Skate!

All classes have been assigned specific recess times to hit the ice. To get started, students must bring the following:

  • A signed permission slip

  • A safety helmet

  • Ice skates

Note: With an upcoming warm front in the forecast, we may have to take a brief pause from skating until the air cools back down. However, we are crossing our fingers for many more weeks of skating fun before winter comes to an end!

Thank You!

A massive thank you to everyone who pitched in to make this rink possible. We couldn't have done it without you. As a reminder, the local community is warmly invited to use the rink after school hours and on the weekends. Happy skating!
